The End of Copy/Paste

Your AI isn’t connected to your tools. So everything is copy/paste.

You ask ChatGPT something. You copy the answer into Notion. You copy something from Notion back into ChatGPT. An hour of work, most of it moving text from tab to tab.

MCP ends that. How?

You are the connection

The AI is smart, but it’s sealed inside the chat. It can’t see your Notion page. It can’t open your Linear issues. It can’t read the Slack thread. So you become the connection. You carry the information in, and you carry the answer out.

That isn’t thinking work. It’s delivery work. There’s a second cost: the AI only knows what you remembered to paste. Forget one page, and the answer is built on half the picture.

What MCP is

MCP stands for Model Context Protocol. It’s an open protocol: one standard way for an AI app to talk to a tool.

Two parts. The tool builds an MCP server once. The server tells the AI what it can do there: search pages, create a page, update an issue, send a message. Then any AI app that speaks MCP can use it. Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor. One server, every app.

Anthropic introduced it in November 2024. In 2025, OpenAI and Google adopted it too. So it isn’t one company’s feature. It’s the standard.

Notion has an MCP server. Linear has one. Slack has one. Gmail has one.

Read and write

This is the part people miss. MCP isn’t only for reading.

Read: the AI opens the Notion page, pulls the open issues from Linear, reads the Slack thread, finds the email.

Write: it creates the page, updates the issue, posts the message.

All from inside the chat. You ask for the plan on Notion, the update on Linear, and a note to the team on Slack. And it gets done. Three tools, one message, no copy/paste.

MCP, new era. Copy/paste, old era.

The AI didn’t get smarter. It can now act inside your tools. Before, the AI answered and you did the work. Now the AI does the work and you check it.

Where it depends

I’m sure about the direction. The details need care.

• It acts as you. You connect with your own account, so the AI can reach what you can reach. Connect what you need, not everything.
• Mistakes now land for real. A bad answer used to die in the chat. Now it can end up on your Linear board. Make it show you the change before it writes.
• MCP fixes the connection, not the tool. If your Notion is a mess, the AI reads a mess. Just faster.

In May 2026, when I made this reel, that’s what I saw: a new tool launches, and an MCP server is one of the first things it ships. MCP had become the default.

Try it

Pick the one tool you copy/paste into the most. Connect only that one.

In the Claude app it’s Settings, then Connectors. In Claude Code it’s one line in the terminal (pick one):

Then type /mcp inside Claude Code and sign in.

Start with reading, not writing:

You're connected to my Notion. Read only for now.
1. Find the page "<page name>" and read it.
2. List what's still open on it, and who owns each item.
3. Draft the update I'd send the team about those items.
Don't create or edit anything in Notion.

Once you trust what it reads, let it write. Keep one rule in every write request: “Show me the exact change first, and wait for my OK.”
